Morton was born in 1904; he played the organ for silent movies and studied in NY before moving to Los Angeles, CA, in 1940; wrote music criticism for Script magazine; executive director, Evenings on the Roof (later renamed Monday Evening Concerts), 1952-71; director of the Ojai Music Festival; as curator of music at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, he staged several Bing Concerts each year; died in 1987.
