Biographical History

The Spokane Federation of Women’s Organizations was formed in 1911 to consolidate and coordinate the activities and interests of women’s organizations in the Spokane area. Initially, the Federation was interested in the creation of a hotel for women. Later efforts featured fundraising to support and encourage school lunches, street beautification, separate house in the Spokane jails for juvenile offenders, and the registration of women voters. It affiliated with the Washington State Federation of Women’s Organizations in 1914 and provided method for communication and public programs in a variety of areas.
