Biographical History

Alfred James Ridley (March 14, 1906-March 4, 1975) was the son of James H. and Mary M. Ridley. He lived most of his life in Lexington (Mich.) with his siblings Grace, Mary, and Bill. Like his father, Alfred was a farmer, but he attended classes at CMU in 1927 and 1928, and earned a limited teaching certificate. It is unknown if he ever taught school. (This information is from the collection.) E. C. Warriner (1866-1945) was CMU's most distinguished and longest serving president from 1918 until 1939. CMU's administration building is named in his honor. The papers of President Warriner are also housed in the Clarke.
