Biographical History

The Seminary Townhouse Association (STA) was formed in 1974 in order to purchase the property the townhouses owned by the McCormick Theological Seminary were built upon rather than allow them to be sold and moved to Hyde Park. STA is comprised of the 54 townhouses and two freestanding houses in the 800 and 900 block of the south side of Fullerton Ave., the 800 blocks of Chalmers Place and the north side of Belden Ave. The homes and adjacent land are all privately owned with an emphasis on community and family. The homes were officially designated a Chicago Landmark District in 1977. These homes are commonly known as the McCormick Row Houses.
