Biographical History
Kenneth Rinker is an American choreographer and modern dance performer. He studied modern dance at the University of Maryland College Park from 1964-1967 and in New York City with Ethel Butler, Charles Weidman, Erick Hawkings, at the Martha Graham School, and was under scholarship at the Cunningham School. During this period also began a long-term collaboration with composer Sergio Cervetti. From 1970 to 1979 he was a member of Twyla Tharp's dance company and the first male dancer to join. From 1979 to 1989, he choreographed over 30 works for his own company, and also undertook residencies at American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow and at UCLA Long Beach. He also choreographed two Hollywood Films. In 1990, Rinker dissolved his company and foundation.
