Biographical History

American playwright, novelist.

Wilde was best known for his many one-act plays. Born in New York City, he attended Horace Mann High School and Columbia University from which he was graduated in 1906. Most of his career was devoted to writing plays, novels (detective stories) and scenarios for the motion pictures. Mr. Wilde was a member of the Authors Club, The Players, The American Dramatists, and a member of the advisory board of the Mystery Writers of America. Among his books are DAWN AND OTHER ONE-ACT PLAYS; CONFESSIONAL AND OTHER AMERICAN PLAYS; THE UNSEEN HOST AND OTHER WAR PLAYS; and DESIGN FOR MURDER.
