Jonas Heil served as a private in the National Guard of Pennsylvania in Captain John F. Schoener's Company C, 7th Regiment; he enrolled on 13 November 1875, and was discharged on 9 May 1876 at Mahanoy City, Pa., for physical disability. Heil was described as age 54, 5 ft. 8-3/4 in., dark complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and a laborer.
The 1936 floods created severe problems to most of the cities in western Pennsylvania. Hardest hit by the flood were Johnstown (Cambria County) and Pittsburgh.
