Biographical History

Austrian violinist.

An Austrian violinist who had emigrated to the U.S. in 1885, Kneisel founded the Kneisel Quartet (a string quartet) in the same year. In 1905 he and his fellow quartet members joined the faculty of the Institute of Musical Art, which later became the Julliard School.
