Biographical History
American physicist and Auburn professor.
Virginia native, received Ph. D. from the University of Virginia in 1922. Served as physics professor at Emory and Henry College, 1908-1920, as Physics Dept. chairman, 1922-1949, and graduate school dean, 1949-1953, at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, later Auburn University. Conducted research in magnetooptics. After retiring from A.P.I., served as chairman of the science division at Emory and Henry College, 1953-1955, and physics professor at Huntingdon College, 1956-1968.
