Biographical History
Mary Ann Everett Wood (1818-1895), historian, was born at Sheffield on 19 July 1818. She was educated at home, and in 1841 moved with her parents to London, where she began to carry out historial research at the British Museum. In 1846 she married George Pycock Green, and after two years settled at Gower Street, London, where she lived for the rest of her life. Mrs Green published the Letters of royal ladies of Great Britain in three volumes in 1846, the Lives of the princesses in six volumes in 1849-1855, and the Life and letters of Henrietta Maria in 1857. She became one of the editors of the calendars of state papers in 1853, and edited 41 volumes of the Domestic series over the next forty years. She died in London on 1 November 1895.
