Biographical History

William and Eliza T. Burbank of Medford, Massachusetts, had six children: William Henry, Oscar, Edwin C., Ella (b. 1846), Ida (b. 1849), and Eva. William Henry Burbank enlisted in Company E of the 5th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment in 1861 and was promoted to quartermaster sergeant on October 8, 1862. He became a first lieutenant in the 58th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, Company I, before his death at White House Landing, Virginia, on June 11, 1864. Edwin C. Burbank was a corporal in Company F of the 5th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment after 1862, and lived in Paris, France, during the Exposition Universelle in 1867. Ida Burbank lived with relatives on Cumberland Island, Georgia, during the winter of 1882-1883.
