The Austin Scottish Country Dancers (officially known as the Austin Scottish Country Dance Society) began in the mid-1970s in Austin, Texas to promote and preserve Scottish heritage and dance. The group is a member of the Royal Scottish Dance Society of Scotland. During the late 1970s and 1980s the group was led by instructors Sarah Harriman, Bill Smith and Steve Monson. The group teaches dance classes and workshops that are open to the public, hosts several social gatherings (Ceilidhs) a year and is available for hire to perform at festivals and events.
