Founded in 1944 to enhance the quality of education by providing financial assistance to deserving students, raising operating funds for member colleges and universities, and increasing access to technology for students and faculty at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
Research Dept. was established in 1968 to gather and disseminate information about United Negro College Fund (UNCF) member institutions and black higher education in general.
Educational Services was established in 1959 to serve as liaison between United Negro College Fund and member colleges and is primarily concerned with development, implementation, and administration of special educational programs such as seminars, internships, fellowships, and visiting scholars.
