The Committee sponsors dinners for the American Woman's Association awards. The American Woman's Association is/was a New York City organization that began in 1911 as the Vacation Association to obtain paid vacations for women workers; it was incorporated as the AWA in 1922 and has since then promoted women's economic interests, cultural activities, and participation in national and world affairs, and provided the impetus for building The Barclay, a women's hotel in N.Y.C. in 1927.
