Konrad B. Krauskopf was a pioneer in the field of geochemistry and a member of the Stanford University faculty from 1939 to 1976, when he was appointed professor emeritus. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his doctoral degree from the University of California-Berkeley in 1934. He began his graduate studies in geology at Stanford in 1935, earning his doctorate in 1939. He authored several widely used textbooks, served as president of several professional associations, and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1959. He died in 2003.
