Biographical History

Irish author Monk Gibbon produced a diverse and eclectic body of work, including poems, travel books, novels, biography, and several volumes of autobiography. He knew Yeats, and is best known for his unflattering portrayal of the Irish poet in his study, The Masterpiece and the Man, Yeats as I Knew Him, which generated a storm of controversy. He also taught in England, Ireland, Wales, and Switzerland.
