Beat poet and author, publisher and editor of Fuck You magazine and press, owner of Peace Eye Bookstore, New York, N.Y., peace and free-speech activist, and rock performer; b. 1939.
Edward Sanders received his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. From 1975 to 1976 he was president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and in 1976 he was Deputy National Campaign Director for the 1976 Carter presidential campaign. He served as Senior Advisor to President Carter for Jewish Affairs from July 1978 to March 1980. He left Washington in 1980 and returned to Los Angeles, where he helped found the law firm of Sanders, Barnet, Goldman, Simons & Mosk, which merged with Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May in September 2000. Since January 2003 he worked for Reed Smith when Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May joined forces with Reed Smith to become Reed Smith Crosby Heafey. He was one of the founding members of the U.S. Holocaust Commission and Council from 1980 to 1987, which prepared the way for the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
