Biographical note: German emigre bookseller and publisher.
Freidmann was born in Poznan, lived in Berlin from 1924 to 1936, and immigrated to Argentina in 1938. He settled in Buenos Aires, where he directed the Freier Deutscher Buchverlag (later Editorial Cosmopolitas), 1939-46, publishing liberal books for German-speaking people in the Americas. He lived in Buenos Aires until 1963, when he relocated to New York City and became an editor of Spanish-language works on technology and adult education. Pertains to German exile literary life and antifascist activities in Argentina during the years 1938-45. Includes transcription of a letter by novelist Joseph Roth and information pertaining to the antifascist artist Clement Moreau.
