Biographical History

Malcolm Elwin was an English author, critic, and editor, probably best known as a biographer. After graduating from Oxford University, he co-founded and edited the periodical West Country, and also edited the series Macdonald Illustrated Classics. He was an expert in 19th-century literature, and wrote historical criticism of the Victorian era as well as biographies of Charles Reade, Thackeray, Thomas De Quincey, and others.
