Biographical History

Professor of History and Economics in the University of Western Australia, 1913-1931; Professor of Economics, 1931-1935. In 1909 research student at the London School of Economics. Lecturer in charge of history and economics in the University of Queensland, 1911-1913. His daughter married Sir Arthur Tange.

Economist. Appointed Professor of History and Economics in the University of Western Australia in 1913. In 1931, he became Professor of Economics only. In 1935 he transferred to the University of Adelaide, but died later that year. He was one of the architects of the 1931 Premiers' Plan, which formed the basis of Australia's recovery from the Great Depression.
