Biographical History
Congregational minister, founder and trustee of Iowa College. Dr. Adams was a member of the Iowa Band of Congregational missionaries who came to Iowa in 1843. He served as a pastor in Mt. Pleasant, Davenport, Decorah and Eldora. He was instrumental in the founding of Iowa College in Davenport. The college subsequently moved to Grinnell. Adams was a long time member of the college's board of trustees. Ephraim and his wife Elisabeth were married in 1845.
Superintendent of American Home Missionary Society in Iowa, and Congregational minister, father of Ephraim Douglass Adams and Henry Carter Adams.
