Biographical History
General, politician. Born 1879 in Lampasos de Naranjo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; died 1950 in Monterrey. Became a Maderist in 1910; fought against Pascual Orozco in 1913. In 1914 Pablo González organized and headed a division of the northeastern army corps, the Ejército del Noreste. In 1915 he was general in chief of the eastern army, the Ejército del Oriente, which overthrew the conventionists in Mexico City. In 1916 he directed the campaign against Emiliano Zapata's followers in Morelos. In 1919 González was candidate for president of the republic but withdrew from the race in rebellion against Venustiano Carranza. González attempted an armed uprising in Monterrey but was apprehended and sentenced to death in 1920. The execution was suspended and González left Mexico to live in the U.S.A., where he remained until 1940, when he returned to Monterrey.
