Biographical History

The Classical Association of Scotland was founded in 1902 with the first meeting held in Edinburgh, on 29 November. The inaugural President was George Gilbert Ramsay , Professor of Humanity at the University of Glasgow

The Classical Association of Scotland, Glasgow and West of Scotland Centre was founded in June 1921 , with Professor Gilbert Davies as its first President. After a period of inactivity between 1954 and 1972, the Centre was reformed 1972 and is still in existence (2007).
