Biographical History
Served as Representative (Democrat) from Chicago in the Illinois House from 1963-1984.
Born and educated in Chicago. Graduated from the Carnegie Institute. Served in WWII with the 83rd Infantry Division and received the Combat Badge and the Bronze Star. Assistant Administrator of the Illinois Veterans Commission under Governor Adlai Stevenson. Founder, and lifetime member of the Pat Petrone Post No. 885, American Legion. Served as commander for a time and lifetime member of Chapter 47 of the Disabled American Veterans. Lifetime member of the All American Post No. 300 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Filippo Mazzei Post No. 1 Italian-American War Veterans and the Admiral Benson Post Catholic War Veterans. A member of the Democratic party for over forty years, served as a Community Chairman in Mayor Daley's Citizen Committee for a "Cleaner Chicago" and numerous community fund drives. Legislative assignments included Committees on Veterans' Affairs (member for 22 years and Chairman for a time), Registration and Regulation, and Agent-Orange Study Commission. Selected "Man of the Year" by combined Veterans Organizations in 1973. He was married and had one child, a son, Robert.
