He returned to the First Methodist Church in East Point to serve as Assistant Pastor (1955-1964). Reverend Wilson retired from active service in June 1964. He died on October 23, 1964 after a short illness.

Estelle Patterson was born in 1891 in Jasper, Florida. She had two brothers, A. Scott and Vivian P., who served as missionaries abroad. A. Scott was a Baptist missionary in Legos, Nigeria and Vivan P. was a Methodist missionary and physician serving in China for 18 years. After her husband's death Estelle remained active in church work. She died on July 4, 1972 as the result of a second heart attack. Rev. and Mrs. Wilson had no children.
