Biographical History

The Buildings and Grounds Committee was created in 1913 as the Committee on Grounds and Buildings and was charged with preserving the natural beauty of the campus and maintaining architectural standards in the construction of buildings. As of 2008, the committee continued as a standing committee of the faculty, appointed by the chancellor, and worked closely with the university's facilities planning staff and with the Building Committee of the Board of Trustees.
