Biographical History

Gladys M. Bradley was born in Ostego, Michigan, in 1897. She received a B.A. in English, from the University of Michigan in 1923 and an M.A. in Speech Therapy at Columbia Teacher's College in 1929. She taught high school English and History in Michigan and New York. In 1929, she married A. Day Bradley; they had one daughter. Bradley served as Alternate Representative and Program Chairman for the United Nations Friends General Conference, from 1956 to 1958. She was active in Pan-Pacific and Southeast Asia Women's Association from 1958 to 1982. She served as Vice-chair of the Committee on UNICEF, from 1963 to 1981 and on the Steering Committee of the Commission on Status of Women, from 1980 to 1982. Bradley died in Newtown, Pennsylvania in 1983.
