Biographical History
Charles Lee Feinberg was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 12, 1909. He was raised in an orthodox Jewish home and studied for the rabbinate before he became a Christian in 1930. Feinberg was a home missionary with the American Board of Missions to the Jews in Detroit and Brooklyn. He earned several degrees, including the following ones from Evangelical Theological College (renamed Dallas Theological Seminary in 1936) a Th.B. and Th.M. in 1934 and a Th.D. in 1935. Charles married Anne Priscilla Fraiman on May 14, 1935 in Dallas. They had three children: Paul David (1938), Lois Anne (1940), and John Samuel (1946). Feinberg pastored in Dallas from 1936-1940 and served as professor of Semitics and Old Testament at Dallas Theological Seminary from 1935-1948. The Feinbergs moved to California and Charles taught Old Testament at Los Angeles Bible Theological Seminary from 1948-1952. Next he was founding dean and professor of Semitics and Old Testament at Talbot Theological Seminary from 1952-1975. Feinberg authored several books and articles and was active in scholarly organizations. Charles Feinberg died on August 22, 1995 in California.
