David Yulee Dancy (ca. 1848-1913) was a native of Florida and a cotton factor in Savannah. He married Julia Wilhelmina Remshart. William Remshart Dancy (1877-1960), son of D.Y. and Julia W. Remshart Dancy, was born in Savannah. He received his early education in Savannah schools and in Pantops Academy in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Georgia in 1896 and his M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1903. He did postgraduate study in medicine in the Universities of Berlin and Vienna. He was a prominent and successful physician in Savannah. In 1912, he married Cecelia Woods, the daughter of Clayton R. and Cecelia Elizabeth Malone Woods. Dr. Dancy was active in freemasonry, in the Sons of Confederate Veterans and United Confederate Veterans. During World War I, he was a captain in the Medical Corps, U.S. Army. He was the author of several medical and historical papers. Clayton Rogers Woods (ca. 1844-1920) was a native of Eufala, Alabama. He was a cotton factor in Savannah under the successive firm names of Woods, Garnett and Co. (John K. Garnett); Woods and Malone (Charles B. and Lewis Malone); and Woods and Cassard (Jules Cassard). He married Cecelia Elizabeth Malone of Mobile, Alabama. Their son, Drury H. Woods died in 1900. Their daughter, Cecelia, married Dr. William R. Dancy. Rogers Sylvester Woods (1877-1939), another son of Clayton R. Woods, was born in Alabama. He began his business career with his father in the firm of Woods and Malone and worked for a few years with Stewart Cotton Co. For several years after this, he was Secretary and Treasurer of Savannah Chemical Co. In 1929, he became Chief Clerk of the Savannah City Water Department, a position he held until his death.
