Biographical History

Gene Schulze was a graduate of both the University of Texas at Austin and its medical school. He practiced medicine in Schulenburg, Houston, and Flatonia, Texas, as well as serving as a volunteer doctor in Africa, Central America, and Asia.

In addition to his four books (Yesterday's Seasons; The Third Face of War; Schweitzer: Shadow of a Star; and MIKE) Schulze published poems, short stories, and essays. The Third Face of War won the Texas Institute of Letters Carr P. Collins award for the best non-fiction book of 1970. Schulze was an enthusiastic rancher, doctor, and writer.
