Biographical History

Reverend George Greig was an ordained minister and member of the London Missionary Society who joined the second voyage of the missionary ship H.M.S. Duff, which sailed for Tahiti in June of 1798. The Duff and its passengers never reached the Pacific, as it was captured first by French privateers and then by the Portuguese fleet. The ill-fated mission was later memorialized by William Gregory in A Visible Display of Divine Providence (London, 1800).

From the description of Journal of the voyage of the Duff, 1798-1799. (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 702178588
