Biographical History

David L. Anderson (b. 1919) was a Navy serviceman and scientist at Los Alamos, New Mexico during and after WWII (1943-1946), an Oberlin College physics professor (1948-1984) and departmental chair (1963-1972), and an Episcopal priest (ordained in 1956). He was born in Portland, Oregon, and educated at Harvard University (S.B. 1941, A.M. 1947, Ph. D. 1950). Anderson authored or co-authored several books, including The Discovery of the Electron (1964), The Discovery of Nuclear Fission (1971), and Discoveries in Physics (1973). His articles and reviews appeared in various professional and ecumenical publications. Anderson married Madeleine "Molly" Mather in 1947; the couple had four children.
