Government official and president of the Chrysler Corporation.
K. T. (Kaufman Thuma) Keller was born in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania on November 27, 1885. In 1911 the General Motors Company employed him, and from 1916 to 1919 he was a general master mechanic for the Buick Motor Company. From 1921 to 1924 he was Vice President of Chevrolet Motor Company, and from 1926 to 1935 he was Vice President in Charge of Manufacturing for Chrysler Corporation. From 1935 to 1950 he served as President of Chrysler Corporation. In 1946 he was awarded the Presidential Medal for Merit for his contributions to the war effort during World War II. In 1947 he became Chairman of the President's Advisory Committee on the Merchant Marine. From 1950 to 1953 he was the Director of the Office of Guided Missiles in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. From 1950 to 1956 he served as Chairman of the Board for Chrysler Corporation. In 1954 he was awarded the Air Force Exceptional Service Award. Keller died on January 21, 1966 in London, England.
