Brennan was born on Sept. 23, 1901 in St. Louis, MO; attended Univ. of MO, 1919-20; became a rewrite man and political reporter for the St. Louis globe-Democrat (1921-23), movie critic, feature and editorial writer for the St. Louis post-dispatch (1923-28), scenario writer for Fox Films, MGM, and First National Films, 1928-30; then became a free lance writer of fiction, contributing to Collier's, Saturday evening post, Liberty, Red book, Cosmopolitan, and others; in 1955 became the chief writer of the Wyatt Earp television series on ABC network; publications include: God got one vote (1927), Pie in the sky (1931), Memo to a firing squad (1943), and One of our H-bombs is missing (1955); he died on June 30, 1962.
