Kathleen Thompson Norris, wife of author Charles Gilman Norris, was the author of many popular novels, beginning with Mother in 1911.
Kathleen Thompson was born on July 16, 1880 in San Francisco, CA; briefly attended UC Berkeley; married author Charles G. Norris in 1909; began writing short stories in 1910, and contributed to magazines; published works include: Mother (1911), Josslyn's wife (1918), The Callahans and the Murphys (1924), The foolish virgin (1928), My San Francisco (1932), Bread into roses (1937), The Venables (1941), Through a glass darkly (1957), and Family gathering (1959); she died on Jan. 18, 1966.

Kathleen Thompson Norris was the author of popular romance novels and the highest paid female author of her time. She was married to author Charles Gilman Norris (Cigi), the brother of author Frank Norris. Her younger sister was Margaret A. Hartigan (Mark), married to Charles Conway Hartigan, a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy. Charles Gilman Norris, born 23 April 1881 in Chicago, Illinois, was an American novelist. Norris worked for several magazines before publishing his first novel in 1915. He wrote primarily novels, but also three poetic dramas. He died in 1945. Kathleen Thompson Norris, born 16 July 1880, was an American novelist. She worked for several San Francisco newspapers before marrying Charles Norris in 1909 and moving to New York. She wrote primarily novels, but also short stories and one play.
