Glenn Irving Tucker (born 1892) was an author, journalist, and historian of Buncombe County, N.C. Tucker was born in Indiana and was educated at DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind., and Columbia University School of Journalism, New York, N.Y. He worked in the newspaper and advertising business in New York City; Philadelphia, Pa.; and Washington, D.C., for over 30 years. He moved to western North Carolina in 1948 to write history and biography. His published works include Poltroons and Patriots: A Popular Account of the War of 1812 (1954), Tecumseh: Vision of Glory (1956), High Tide at Gettysburg (1958), Hancock the Superb (1960), Chickamauga: Bloody Battle in the West (1961), Front Rank (1962), Dawn Like Thunder: The Barbary Wars and the Birth of the U. S. Navy (1963), Zeb Vance: Champion of Personal Freedom (1966), Lee and Longstreet at Gettysburg (1968), and The War of 1812: A Compact History (1969).
