Biographical History
The daughter of Samuel Gridley and Julia (Ward) Howe, Richards was the author of more than eighty books, most of them for young people. She and her sister, Maude Howe Elliott, wrote Life and Letters of Julia Ward Howe (1910), which received the first Pulitzer Prize for biography.
