Biographical History

John Geddes Randall was born in Marshall, Michigan, on January 19, 1873. He was the fourth child in a family of five born to William T. and Sarah Geddes Randall. In 1876, the Randalls moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, and by 1880, they had moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, where Randall attended public school. He graduated from Beloit Academy and went onto earn an M.A. from Beloit College. He studied medicine at Hahneman Medical College in Chicago, Illinois, and was an intern at Hahneman Hospital. He also took special work at Northwestern Medical College and completed post graduate work in New York, New York. From 1898, Randall lived and worked in Monroe, Wisconsin.

In 1905, Randall moved to Missoula, Montana, where he established a practice and soon became an active member of the community. He was involved in the Presbyterian Church, and such organizations as the Knights of Pythias and the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was also the president of both the Utsin Medical Fraternity and the Western Montana Medical Society. Randall served on the Missoula County High School Board of Trustees from 1931 until 1937 and was Chairman for two of these years. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Randall married Nellie T. Haller in Burlingame, Kansas, in June, 1911. Their children were Charlotte and Joann. He died on August 15, 1940.
