Biographical History
The United Council of Church Women was organized in 1939 as an interdenominational group. Members were from all denominations in San Angelo. Originally, the group was called the Federation of Church Women. Their first event would be the World Day of Prayer. It was decided that women of all churches in the city regardless of denominational or racial lines, would be invited to participate in the event. The chief purpose of the organization would be to cultivate acquaintance and friendship among the church women of San Angelo.
