Indian agent and U.S. representative from Alabama.

McKee was a Choctaw Indian agent, and served on treaty conventions with the Choctaws, Cherokees, and Chickasaws, and was a native of Va. He was in the Choctaw nation as early as 1801, and witnessed Cherokee treaties as early as 1805. He served in the U.S. Congress for three terms, 1823-1829, as the representive of the district including Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa Co., Ala. He was also postmaster of Tuscaloosa for a short time thereafter.
John McKee was a frontiersman, United States agent to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians in eastern Mississippi, and United States representative from Alabama (1823-1829).
