Biographical History
Colin Roderick was an Australian author, educator, and editor, and a major influence on 20th century Australian literary affairs, perhaps best known for his books about Australian literature. Born in 1911 in Queensland, he served as editor and later director of the publishing house Angus & Robertson, 1945-1965, and Professor of English at James Cook University, 1965-1976. Roderick wrote prolifically on Australian literature, especially on Henry Lawson, and published a book of travel writing and some fiction. In 1963 he published a book on the colorful convicted murderer, John Knatchbull. Roderick died in 2000.

Colin Roderick is an author and academic who has written a number of books on Australian history and literature. He worked as an editor for Angus and Robertson during the 1940s and 1950s, and has been Emeritus Professor since 1978.
