Biographical History
This series includes correspondence from lawyers to the chairman of the State Board of Adjustment, a brief description of the amount of the claim, court dockets(descriptions of the law suits), hearing notices, photographs, maps, diagrams, and other related records. Also included are formal notices from the State Comptroller's Office stating that the Board of Adjustment has awarded a certain amount to a claimant, and that the amount should be paid out of the funds of the state department against which the claim was filed. The notices include the warrant numbers for each claim that was acknowledged.
A colored label system was used beginning in 1945, using a yellow label with the case file number printed on it. From 1952 to 1955 the claim case files were arranged in numerical order, with each file number followed by the letter "B", and printed on a blue label. The letter could possibly pertain to the Secretary of State, Agnes Baggett. Beginning in 1955 the claim case files contain a case file number, followed by the initial(s) of the name of the Governor that was in office at the time the claim was filed. The case file numbers are printed on a different colored label for each new administration. In 1979 the filing system was changed to a numerical system, with the first two digits representing the year in which the case was filed.
