Biographical History

The Women's Rights Committee was officially established in 1971 as a standing committee of the provincial NDP, but its roots date back to the 1962 Women's Committee. The general function of the Women's Rights Committee is to develop policy on women's issues and to encourage the participation of women in the political process. The Committee set up the Task Force on Older Women in 1979 to conduct research, hold hearings and make recommendations.
