Biographical History

Bent Franklin Larsen was born in Monroe, Utah, on May 10, 1882. He graduated from Snow Academy and then received a B.A. degree from BYU in 1912. He was a professor and chairman of the Art department at BYU. He served for fifty years at BYU until he was given Professor Emeritus status. He was a recipient of the David O. McKay Humanities Award and the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Teachers Award. He also had an art exhibit displayed in Soloam at the Louvre in Paris, France.

B.F. Larsen (1882-1970) was a BYU professor of art, who spent some time in Paris, France. He was born to Bent Rolfsen Larsen and Lorena Eugenia Washburn Larsen on May 10, 1882 in Monroe, Sevier County, Utah. He married Martha Geneva Day on September 25, 1907 in Manti, Sanpete County, Utah. He passed away on January 7, 1970 in Orem, Utah County, Utah.

Lorena Eugenia Washburn Larsen (1860-1945) was a Mormon woman in Utah. She was the mother of B.F. Larsen.

Bent Franklin Larsen (1882-1970) was an artist whose paintings are exhibited across the country in many different museums.

Bent Franklin Larsen was born in 1882 in Monroe, Utah. He attended school at Snow College after which he taught school for two years in Cove, Utah and Green River. He then enrolled at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1912. He then attended the University of Utah where he received his Master of Arts in 1922. He married Geneva Day on September 10, 1907, they had five children. He traveled around the world and attended many art institutions. His paintings are exhibited across the country in many different museums. Many of his paintings have won awards. He was affiliated with BYU for over fifty years, many of those years were spent on the faculty in the art department. There is a gallery in the Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU that is named in honor of him.
