Biographical History

Planters of Sumter District, S.C.; William H. Jennings served in the Condfederate Army, 7th South Carolina Cavalry Battalion, "Holcombe Legion," Company J; Jenning's wife, Mary E. Dinkins Jennings, a native of Sumterville, began teaching in 1858 in the Darlington District "Free Schools" prior to her marriage in 1863, and returned to the profession in the years following the Civil War.
