Biographical History

Frank Selwyn Neusbaum was born on January 8, 1904 in Mt. Union, Pennsylvania. He was a 1926 graduate of Pennsylvania State College with a bachelor of arts degree. During his junior and senior year he was directing and teaching as a part-time staff member of the English Department. Neusbaum began teaching English and dramatics at Pennsylvania State College in 1928 and earned his master of arts degree from there in 1933. In 1936 he was appointed assistant professor of dramatics and attained full professor status in 1946. Instrumental in the development of the university's motion picture and recording studio during the 1940s and 1950s, he was head of that service from 1947 until 1958. Twice during that time, he wrote, directed and produced prize-winning films about traffic safety. He retired with emeritus status in 1968 after 40 years on the faculty. In 1969, he was awarded a lifetime membership in the American University Film Association. Frank S. Neusbaum died at the age of 81 in Tucson, Arizona.
