Biographical History

Lois Wilson began her film career in 1916 and was one of the leading ladies in silent films of the 1920s. Two of her best-known roles were Molly Wingate in The Covered Wagon and Daisy Buchanan in the 1926 version of The Great Gatsby for which she won the Photoplay magazine best performance award. She later appeared in sound motion pictures and also played on Broadway several times and was in the company of Women. She also acted in several soap operas, including Guiding Light and the Edge of Night. Among her other activities, Wilson was a volunteer for Actor's Equity for 18 years and the Equal Opportunity Committee for AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Actors). She was also a charter member of the SAC (Screen Actors Guild).
