Art historian, museum director, educator; New York, N.Y.

Solomon established the Andrew Dickson White Art Museum at Cornell University in 1953, and served as its director until 1961. He also taught on the faculty of Fine Arts at Cornell. After moving to New York City in the early 1960s, Solomon undertook many diverse curatorial and research projects related to contemporary American art, particularly the New York City art scene and abstraction.
