Biographical History

Rossiter Johnson (1840-1931) was an American author and editor. In addition to editing historical and reference works, he wrote biographies, histories and poetry. He and his first wife, Helen Kendrick Johnson (1844-1914), were ardent anti-feminists who belonged to various organizations opposed to women's suffrage. Helen Johnson was also an author and editor.
