Biographical History

Roy Burton Goodwin was born on July 25, 1884 and died on June 18, 1948. When he was 26 years old, he was the youngest Chief Engineer on steam schooners on the Pacific Coast. He saved the steamer Cricket and her load of lumber from a burning wharf by starting the engines and moving the vessel away from the fire. For that he received a gold watch.
